About the Salt Clinic Ireland

The Salt Room or sometimes known as a Salt Cave was specifically designed for people suffering from respiratory and skin issues ranging from asthma to allergies to eczema.

Dry salt aerosol therapy is 100% drug free and can be used safely in combination with your current medications and treatments to provide relief for the everyday symptoms which you have to deal with.  In clinical tests salt therapy (also known as “halotherapy”) has proven effective at relieving symptoms of a variety of respiratory and skin ailments.

For more than 20 years dry salt aerosol, administered in specially-designed halochambers, has been used to help upper and lower respiratory conditions such as cold and flu, allergy, asthma, bronchitis, sinus infection, sinusitis, rhinitis, hay fever and emphysema.  In addition, the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of dry sodium chloride aerosol has been shown to be an effective treatment for ear infection and conditions of the skin such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.  Some of the many health benefits you’ll receive from Salt Therapy Spa include reduction of bronchial inflammation, removal of airborne pollen particles from airways, strengthening of the immune system which decreases allergic reaction to pollens, cleansing and sanitation of the airways, prevention and treatment of common colds and flu, improvement of dermatological disors such as acne, dermatitis and psoriasis, reduction of snoring and encourage better sleep.

Scientists and researchers developed halotherapy as a means of concentrating the positive effects of salt observed in nature.

It was in 1843 that the concept on which halotherapy is based was first published by a physician.  After observing the remarkably low incidence of respiratory conditions in salt mine workers who were regularly exposed to air saturated with saline dust, the concept of speleotherapy (salt cave therapy) was born.  More recently, research published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that salt inhalation was a highly effective respiratory therapy.  Our room brings the natural benefits of salt therapy while taking the benefits one step further by providing the ideal concentration of dry sodium chloride aerosol to treat your specific condition.  At Salt Therapy we use the latest technology in halogenerators to crush pharmaceutical grade salt grains into small particles the size of 1 to 10 micrometers.  Particles bigger than 5 micrometers reach into the nose and throat area, while the smaller particles can penetrate deep into the lungs.

The walls and floor of our salt room are covered with natural salt which attract water molecules, this helps to maintain a sterile, anti bacterial and negative ion environment throughout the whole session. Our air exchange system ensures that after each treatment the air is completely extracted and replenished.
